CHILD IDENTIFICATION PROCEDURES The district conducts Child Find activities for the purpose of locating, evaluating, and identifying students with a suspected disability who are residing within district boundaries. Child Find activities apply to children who are not currently receiving special education and related services. Parents having concerns about their child’s health, hearing, intellectual functioning, language and learning development, movement, behavioral concerns, speech, vision; and/or are experiencing homelessness or have a child is in foster care, may call the district office regarding services at 509-829-5911.

ALL NEW STUDENTS TO THE DISTRICT

New students must register through Central Registration at the district office prior to going to any school building. Central Registration is located on the Hilton Elementary School Campus at 213 Fourth Avenue in the Administration Building. PLEASE BRING WITH YOU AT TIME OF REGISTRATION 1. LEGAL STATE ISSUED - Birth Certificate (recommended but not required) Guardian ID will be checked at registration. 2. COMPLETE - Immunization Record 3. PROOF of RESIDENCE in the Zillah School District is a current utility or telephone statement and must show guardian’s name and physical address on statement. 4. High school student grades 9-12 must provide a current transcript, attendance and discipline records from previous attended school. Middle school student’s grades 7-8 must provide a current grade report. 5. MEDICATION FORMS for EpiPens and inhalers must be completed and signed by physician, presented to school secretary and reviewed by school nurse prior to student starting school. Please have these documents ready at registration time.

FOOD SERVICE- 2019-2020 Free and Reduced Price Meals Application will be available online at: zillahschools.org You may want to fill them out ahead of time and bring them in at the time of registration. NOTE: Students qualifying for Free/Reduced program may be eligible for college financial aid and other special programs, so all families are encouraged to apply.

PARENT ALERT!!!! CHANGES to IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENTS Grades K-12 – 2-MMR (Measles, Mumps and Rubella) vaccines are now required in order to attend school. No longer will personal or philosophical exemptions be excepted. Grades 6-12 - 2-Varicella (Chicken Pox) vaccines and 1-Tdap vaccine are required. Please provide documentation from physician or clinic that these vaccinations have been given prior to registration. Medication Authorization Forms need to be renewed annually with clinic or physician and presented at time of registration.

PRESCHOOL - START SCHEDULE August 28, 29, 30 and September 3 - Parent /Student/Teacher Entrance Conferences Parents will receive notification of conference dates and times. Preschool students must live within the Zillah School District boundaries and must be 4-years of age by September 1, 2019. Parents are responsible for transportation of preschool age students to and from school. Small groups of students will attend: Wednesday, September 4 - Thursday, September 5. Parents will receive prior notice of which group their student is in. All preschool students in AM or PM classes will come together for class on Monday, September 9 at their regular AM or PM session. PRESCHOOL – SESSIONS AM Preschool 8:10 a.m.-10:00 a.m. AM Preschool 10:10 a.m.-11:40 a.m. PM Preschool 12:40 p.m.-2:30 p.m.

KINDERGARTEN – START SCHEDULE August 28, 29 and 30 – Parent/Student/Teacher Entrance Conferences Students must be 5-years of age by September 1, 2019 Students will be transitioned into their class in small groups with the first group on September 3rd and 4th and second group on September 5th and 6th. Student’s individual transition date will be shared with parents at the time of registration. All students will be in attendance together on Monday, September 9.
